So I had this crazy idea that there might be people out there, like me,
who are overly passionate about history and would want to engage in a
discussion of various history and historical fiction novels. As an
aspiring history teacher and current stay-at-home mom, I desperately
need to talk to adults who appreciate this genre and can validate my
obsession. I'm always more motivated to delve into the literature and
really analyze and critique it if I get to share my ideas with others.
Hence, my genius idea to start a history book club. This should be fun,
and heck, if it flops, maybe I can use this sight as a resource in my
very own history class someday! If you're interested in joining the historian's book club, follow my blog and start reading the book for next month.
This month I'll be reading Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It's a fabulous book, and has the potential for a great discussion, so pick it up and get started! I'll post a link to a discussion forum on November 30th. If you have any suggestions for books or ideas on how to run the discussion, I'm open for suggestions.
